Absorption (Avalement)

An advanced way to ski bumps is to ski over the tops and absorb them with your lower body. This action, which is also called avalement, enables you to keep your skis in contact with the snow at all times and not get thrown airborne by the bumps. When skiing with absorption your legs are similar to shock absorbers on cars as they compress & extend to absorb the bumps as you ski over them.
