Get out your ‘Moonboots'; 3+ feet of snow on its way!
As though there isn’t enough early snow already covering the slopes making for fab skiing, another meter of snow -or more – (over 3 feet) is forecast to fall by Saturday! So the off-piste powder hounds won’t need to worry about tearing up their ski bases on rocks as the rocks will be well buried but they will have to worry about avalanches as the risk everywhere will be at a maximum! So until the new snow settles my advice is to ski side pistes within the boundaries, choosing even there to ski carefully, being sure to not ski beneath steep off-piste slopes that rise above the open runs. The photo below was taken today by Alpine Experience. It’s the last day of skiing powder beneath a lovely blue sky until Sunday when the sun and blue skies should reappear.
X-mas this year should be wonderful, like the ‘old days’ when Val was all white with snow-laden trees and snow covered roofs. So stay merry and have a spiked hot cider and send a toast to the snow gods for being so nice to us!
