The Importance of Layers

Wearing layers of light, insulating clothing is warmer than wearing one or two bulky garments. Closest to the skin its best to wear upper and lower body garments made from modern materials that transfer the body moisture away to the outer garments rather than wearing cotton. Over this wear a turtle neck shirt and a fleece. On top of this wear a ski parka that is warm & water resistant. Down parkas are the warmest, though fiber-filled jackets are also good.
